I have an open cubicle in a large open office in an old building with no HVAC system. It's cold in winter and wildly hot in summer. I needed something I could just keep on my desk so I wouldn't die in a puddle of sweat that wasn't trying to cool the entire office space and this fitted the bill. It's walking about a foot away from me now and I can tell the difference between this little thing and a big fan blowing on me - the air coming out of it is definitely colder than the air coming out of it. just a fan.
