I bought this lens to use with my a7s2 to create videos for real estate agents. For that I need a remote lens because to make these videos FAST (which is important as clients don't like paying a lot for these basic basic videos) you need to be shooting in S priority mode, so what the camera can do is control the aperture and it open and close at will as the light level increases and decreases as you walk around the house to take photos. This lens had good barrel distortion, but I was willing to forgive it, thinking the client would probably never notice. I was happy to bump it up to f/2.8 and let twice as much light into the camera as my previous f4 lens. The killer of the deal, however, was the aperture control. It wasn't as smooth as my 16-35 f4. Instead of gently opening and closing the opening, he waited and then took a big leap. For example, a point at a slight jump compared to how my 16-35mm lens adjusts in 1/10 increments on the fly. As a result, the light level jumped up and then decreased as the amount of light in the scene changed. It was impossible. I don't know if the lens was designed to only be adjustable in 1-stop increments when used in S priority mode, or if it was because the lens couldn't communicate effectively with the camera to know how to set up. faster and therefore smoother. In any case, it had to be sent back and replaced with the significantly more expensive 12-24mm f4. Of course I lost the extra bezel and obviously didn't want to jump for an extra coin. But the shortcomings of this lens weren't an acceptable compromise for what I do.
