It's a small round cake but should last a long time as you only need a small amount at a time. It's fairly solid at our room temperature of 75F or so, but melts a bit when I rub it between my palms. Then I put the balm aside and rub my hands until the balm is absorbed. My hands are velvety but not greasy at all. This is especially handy in the kitchen where I wash my hands constantly while cooking and after gardening. I wouldn't say the balm itself is moisturizing, it helps my hands retain moisture and recover from a tough wash - and feels great. The scent of lavender seems to erase all strong culinary memories and I feel elegant again. I want it in a tin so I can store it between uses. I leave it wrapped in a piece of parchment paper in a jar, ready to use.
