People only complain about the smell of wet wool. If you wash a ton of merino wool in water without soap, you'll still get a strong odor. This soap itself has a subtle cedar scent that you'll only notice if you're really looking for it. Overall this is clearly a very gentle product and if you use it diligently your woolen garments will definitely last longer. It's not very good for removing stains, but you can use a stain remover for that. I'm taking off a star because it's quite expensive for the number of washes you get. Luckily, wool clothes don't need to be washed very often, so cost isn't an issue.
