Review on Japanese Kishu Binchotan Water Purifying Charcoal Stick - Filters up to 2 Liters of Water by Beth Dellman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My husband can finally drink tap water!

Although we have a RainSoft system that works great for me, my husband's sense of smell is much keener and he picks up the slightest smell/taste of rotten eggs. While I drink tap water, he still drinks bottled water. Bought to try to reduce the amount of plastic bottles recycled. Follow cooking and drying instructions. Place the prepared Binchotan stick in a liter jar and leave for 90 minutes. Note that some commenters have said that a short time worked for them. My husband said it was an improvement but he still had a slight smell/taste. I left the glass on the counter overnight and in the morning the water was acceptable to him. During the day he drinks a liter and in the evening I fill it up so that he is ready the next morning. I can see where a stick of this size can hold two liters of water. For now I'm sticking with a liter jar as it's easy to manage and every liter of Binchotan water he drinks saves us from using two pints of bottled water in plastic containers. We are very satisfied with this product and recommend it to others.
