My cats have learned to unzip zips from the inside and climb out a few times. I then used twisty zippers and finally a quick release buckle to secure the zippers. However, a cat escaped and chewed through the fabric next to the zipper. This is a good product and my cats liked it but they need supervision when using it. My cats didn't even think about leaving the enclosure during my first summer. This happened in the second year of use, so don't think your cats won't. Unfortunately one of my cats died during the last escape - only two weeks ago she was attacked by two neighbours' dogs. I was cooking breakfast and watching them through the storm door from time to time, so it was pretty quick. They were in their enclosure and then disappeared. Check the canvas for bite marks or wear, zip it up and never use it unattended to avoid that heartbreak.
