Review on Moshi iGlaze Hardshell Case for MacBook Pro 16-inch: Scratch Protection, Easy Installation & Removal, Heat Dissipation - Stealth Clear by Daniel Taylor

Good overall lightweight protection and stylish

Over the years I have used different brands and styles of cases on my MacBook Pros. I've used impact resistant cases like Thule Vectros, thin/flat cases like Incase Hardshell and hybrid cases like Tech21 Impact Snap. tend to stick with brand names just because they have some experience with budget brands like Supcase - I've had experience with a case they make for the iPad where the case actually damaged my iPad. Some harder plastic cases can damage and scratch the finish of your MacBook when you try to install or remove it. For my latest MacBook I decided to buy this Moshi case to try it out. As with any low-profile protective case, don't expect miracles if you drop your computer - even a shock-absorbing case can barely support a 3-5 pound device if dropped. In terms of what this case is made for, which is protecting against very small corner bumps and scratches, it seems to do a good job. Installation and customization are probably its highlights - it's incredibly easy to install and remove. The fit is very good, I don't see any body flex or flex anywhere on the top and bottom covers, which is good for keeping big pieces of dirt out. I'm sure fine dust and very fine particles smaller than grains of sugar can get in over time, but most things that can cause scratches are unlikely to get between the case and the computer. In terms of flexibility, I see how this product is advertised, but I wouldn't go as far as twisting or bending the case that way. However, the flexibility makes this case more durable. the rubber feet on it match those on the macbook pro and are grippy enough to prevent it from sliding off the table if someone accidentally trips over the power cord (no guarantee). However, the case's finish isn't grippy (like the Tech21 Impact Snap case), and as a result, it's prone to slipping if you place it on a bed, sofa, or other fabric surface. Expect it to move when you put it in your car seat and go on a trip (whereas the Tech21 case is much less likely to move in your car seat). Overall and price-wise it's a decent case, but slightly overpriced compared to competitors in the same style and protection bracket. But this is a one-time purchase, and considering it's going to be a couple of years, I don't mind the cost - it'll help keep the resale value of your Macbook Pro head and shoulders above what it would be if you would use no case at all.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Not bad
