When I ordered my Pentax K5, I ordered a 16-45mm lens instead of the standard 18-55mm kit lens. Everything looked fine the first time I used it, but each time I got better results both indoors and outdoors. I recently used it for some sea and landscape shots during a photo club tour. Others on the trip had very impressive, high quality Nikon and Canon lenses, but with my reasonably priced Pentax 16-45mm lens, I was just minding my own business and shooting frame by frame in manual and AP modes with one circular polarization filter included. for a few shots. IMPRESSIVE! The results were stunning (both with and without a filter)! Next month I'll be sharing three shots from that trip at the well-known local annual photo show. The manager of the framing shop wants to buy one of the pictures if it is available at the end of the exhibition. The irony is that when I bought my first lens for the K5 I was really hesitant to go for a 16-45mm lens and seriously considered similar lenses from Sigma and Tamron. But in the end I ordered 16-45mm and never regretted it. When I need more zoom I use the new Pentax 55-300mm which also works very well.
