Looks good but needs improvement

Looks good in high winds. This bait is a bit heavy so you need a good gust of wind to get both sides spinning at the same time. I've found that even in light winds it works quite well with just a meter connected on one side. Both meters connected at the same time seem to cause a conflict. I think the right amount of wind and the combination of spinners moving in opposite directions allows one side to spin and when the wind is from the other direction the opposite side spins. Both sides rotate in strong winds. At night it lights up in different colors. He doesn't have the ability to stop at just one color. As for the details, they're simple thin rods that screw together piece by piece, making it wobble. At the bottom there is a leg with three teeth for attachment. Even in strong winds of up to 55 km/h, it doesn't tip over, but rocks. The tip of the rod, where the spinners connect, is designed to rotate to catch the breeze. I put a plastic ring between the tip of the pole and the second part of the pole to allow the device to rotate very easily. It's the little gray thing in the picture. I think it improved movement and his ability to catch the wind quickly. Positioning the lure will require some patience as it will want to catch the wind off the side of the face or on the blade edge so practice with a few points. A couple of other tweaks were adding a thin, large washer on each side of the thread, and then threading on a decorative nut. On the threads, apply threadlock or some teflon tape to the threads as this seemed to help with a nut that wasn't staying in place. Since the sunlight is directed upwards, moisture can drip into the device at the edge of the cracked glass sphere. It's not waterproof. Either pick up the unit and place in a dry place if there is a risk of rain/humidity, or attach the lamp base to the glass globe. I put some rubber bands on the parts of the light ball and then twisted them together. Maybe even sealant will help. Never allow moisture to penetrate the solar electronics under the glass cover. Moisture and electronics are incompatible. Be careful with the glass ball as it has fewer star threads and can easily break off if handled roughly. Hence one star less for the quality and extra work to make it work. It's good for the price.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
