I've wanted to buy a cold brew coffee machine for a long time. I used a homemade replacement made from a broken cold brew coffee maker strainer and a beer mug. I also have an espresso machine anyway, so I usually use fine or even very finely ground coffee for both types of brewing. Although I read the instruction manual, I didn't do it carefully enough and skipped the "Use coarse coffee" part. I was very skeptical about the "well shaken" part of the instructions at the time. While I used a finely ground espresso and expect some of the coffee grounds to get into the coffee as it's not designed for that, I think even with a coarsely ground espresso there are still some fine particles flying out when the entire coffee machine is shaken. To avoid this, I stirred the ground coffee in the strainer several times during brewing with a long spoon or chopstick and, if necessary, removed the strainer before pouring the coffee. You may need a bottle brush to clean the screen inside. It rinses off fine, but coffee is quite an oily substance and will settle. I liked the taste, I think overall it's a great coffee maker, love that it's plastic, BPA free and true to size. Thank you!
