Review on Beautiful Pulaski Ornate Door Chest Carved Storage Cabinet In Cream Color by Matt Patnaik

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Distressed, but not cliched

I think the time for distressed furniture is closing, if not already closed. BUT, and this is a big one, even if that's true this cabinet doesn't give off an aggressive distressed vibe. What I'm trying to say is that it looks great on its own. It invites attention but does not demand it.It comes already assembled, so no work other than to get a relatively heavy cabinet out of a heavily padded shipping box. I think this is a good thing - sometimes when assembling doors they may not line up right. Here the doors lined up perfectly and the whole thing looks finished. One note there though - the cabinet adheres to safety protocols and includes anti-tip hardware. I'll confess that I didn't bother with it, but it's there if you're so inclined. The finish on the cabinet is appropriate to the style, that is lightly distressed but not even approaching the level of "just found this in a trash heap after a rainstorm." Hardware is modern (door catches/magnets, etc) so it's perhaps semi-vintage-look. One shelf inside and there's enough space for various odds and ends. Not too much though, it's not a breakfront or a linen cabinet. But it does a good job holding books and things in one of my rooms. Enough space on top for an end table lamp and a wireless speaker.Yeah, I mix modern and vintage. Sue me.Anyway, I like this cabinet quite a bit. The detail is great, it's interesting without being obnoxious, and the build quality is very good. A great cabinet.

Pros
  • Lightly distressed cream finish brings out the depth in the raised front door details
Cons
  • Limited Functionality: While the Pulaski Ornate Door Chest boasts ornate and eye-catching design, it may not offer the level of storage space and practicality that many consumers are looking for in a storage cabinet. Its decorative elements may limit its ability to effectively organize everyday items, making it less suitable for some households
