Review on πŸŒ™ Pccooler GI-D66A Dual Silent CPU Cooler Moonlight Series - 120mm PWM Fan, ARGB Lights, 6 Heat Pipes - Intel Core i7/i5/i3, AMD Series by Tutcht Cobb

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good cooling, good RGB, bad setup.

So let's break it down into 4 segments: cooling, looks, design and installation. Cooling: The cooling works well. I bought this and sent the Enermax ETS-50 back because the Pccooler performed significantly better in the test reports, especially in the stress tests. My CPU idles at 30 and after 2 hours of Prime95 it's in the mid to high range of 60. That's a sweet spot for me. Also, I like the dual fan push-pull design for better heat dissipation. Don't get me wrong, Enermax worked well too and white looked like a pain, but this one has better high performance. Aesthetics: I like the look. The all-black body looks streamlined and really shows off the RGB lighting. I love the RGB on the cooler, it syncs with my Gigabyte motherboard's RGB Fusion. The fans have nice RGB lighting on the center hub, and translucent fins give it a nice glow. All in all, this is a great cooler. Design: I love the design of the cooler itself, but WHY WHY PCCOOLER did you use those ultra short cables for RBG and fan power? THE? Seriously, these are the shortest wires I've ever seen on a cooler. And that sucks because you're dealing with 5 wires: 2 PWM and 3 RGB wires going to the splitter and then to the motherboard. Those damn wires are so short they can't be hidden, giving you highly visible wires and connectors on your board. Installation: This was one of, if not the most difficult cooler to install that I have ever dealt with. . I've read all the owners warnings to mount it with MB outside the case, but I've never had to do that, even on a Hyper 212 Evo, and remove the motherboard from a 6 fan build, etc. But it was tough. Worst of all, the screws attach it to the processor. The plastic casing makes it very difficult to get to the screws and it took me quite a while to get them properly tightened. Another thing I didn't like is that the instructions don't say you need the small screws from the Intel package to attach the bracket to the cooler and they don't say what the correct orientation is, ie I had to figure it out for myself. The screw holes are actually slots with a lot of play, so you'll need to figure out how far to move them up or down before tightening them. Verdict: Excellent cooling, which is most important, excellent RGB lighting, terrible cable length. and installation. However, I recommend it if you're willing to deal with the escalation.
