Narrow end holds hooks securely
We feed street birds, but other harmful creatures think the seed is for them too. Deer are just as annoying here as raccoons and squirrels - they'll mercilessly stand on their hind legs and push the feeder, hoping it'll fall to the ground and scatter the seeds. This has happened before with traditional S-hooks, but not with these. No matter how I hang one of these hooks, the narrower part keeps everything securely in place. I prefer using these over carabiners because it's easier to remove/refill the food bowl in the winter - nothing is blocking it and you don't have to remove your mittens. Best of all, deer just can't get those hooks to the ground. Five stars for helping me trick unwanted bandits.
