I read the reviews and followed the others and chose a larger drill bit for the dowel hole. me to keep them silver. Before that I glued the numbers in the column. After making sure the numbers (with the screws already in place) lined up with the dots on the guide number page, I used a hammer and nail to gently tap each guide number hole on the paper to make a mark in the column I landed on am drilling. I removed the paper to drill through without tearing the paper while drilling. Therefore they are not perfectly aligned. It's not perfect but I like the look of the rooms. Knowing what I know now I would buy them again as the installation of the third number went very smoothly.
