Review on Thick Graduated Measuring Cylinder Brushes by Alan Massey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best value I've found should work for most applications.

Good packaging, thick glass, better accuracy than advertised, brush included. At the same time, I don't want to assume that they correspond to "class A" of a well-known brand, cylinders cost several (maybe 10?) Times more. I can't compare it to a 'good' cylinder but I would expect a branded product to have better quality control. The markings on my kit are less sharp and clear on some cylinders than others. This is not striking, but shows the production conditions that are necessary to achieve a very reasonable price. In addition, I made multiple measurements on each cylinder, tested the mass of distilled water at 20°C to 5 significant digits on calibrated equipment, and found my accuracy to be about half of the stated error or better. Accuracy was even better, suggesting the marks match well with precisely manufactured tubes. My 100ml delivers about 0.45ml +/- 0.2ml more than advertised. 50ml and 10ml give about -0.2ml and -0.1ml respectively. I think it's good. If I needed more precision I would use mass rather than volume. One note: they are marked EX (same as TD). These markings mean that the measured amount is dispensed when poured, not that the cylinder contains the measured amount. It is necessary to take into account the small residue after casting that is required for this type of cylinder.
