I don't know why it was shiny. Doesn't match the car at all. The description also doesn't say anything about the bright blue LEDs inside, which also doesn't match anything in the car. After searching unsuccessfully for an alternative, I disassembled it, which is very easy, cut off the LEDs and sanded the front side with 220 grit sandpaper. This made it a little lighter than the stock buttons. It also erases USB logos. So I took some light oil and applied a thin layer all over my face. It has darkened it and it looks almost OEM!
