really good affordable option

I bought this to replace the standard stand that came with an Asus 23.6 inch widescreen monitor. Solid build quality, easy assembly, and a good price make it a great alternative to other more expensive options. The round base works like a lazy susan and turns pretty smoothly. All other adjustments (tilt, pan, and height) are pretty smooth too. The finish is matte black plastic, and the 3M logo on the front of the round base is clearly visible, but not as ugly or as cheap as someone else has suggested. You will need a Phillips screwdriver to assemble the base and it is possible to attach the monitor to the stand. The instructions don't give you much information but I was able to figure out what I needed from the diagrams. They've provided three sets of screws so you can use the one you need for your monitor mount type: note the warning that unless you're using a VESA 100 x 100 configuration, you shouldn't use the simplest of thumbscrews I bought which I really didn't need and which arrived completely scratched. I went with the 3M version, but it's basically identical to the Ergotron version (Ergotron makes them for 3M, so choose what's cheaper or what color you like best: I liked the solid black of the 3M version better than 3M version). combination of black and silver). The Ergotron has a more expensive similar design that feels a little more durable with a solid steel base, but it's three times the price. I would buy another one, but my other monitor doesn't support VESA mount. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade.
