Good First Aid Gel Dressings

I've scratched my palms badly on the pavement and was looking for a hydrocolloid gel dressing to keep wounds moist and trap dirt. For two days I used regular dry bandages with copious amounts of antibiotic ointment and changed loose/dirty bandages frequently. Then came these gel bandages and they feel so good and soft on my barely healed palm wounds and I feel like they can last longer than dry bandages. The dressing is rectangular with a hydrogel pad in the middle and an adhesive liner on top that also forms a border around the gel pad. It is transparent/translucent and gives you a blurry view of the wound. The only problem I see so far is that the edge of the adhesive sheet is too small so it easily peels off my palm where it sweats or moves a lot (seems to come off after about 1-2 hours). There is also a slight vinyl odor that can be noticeable when placed next to a gel bandage.

Pros
  • High test scores for hold and durability
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
