I have Visi-therm heaters with different outputs (100-150 W) in three aquariums. I've never had a single failure. One of them has been heating for 10 years! My house stays at 62ºF in the winter so I go up a size. I love that the boxes on these heaters tell you how many degrees the water is heated by for a given tank size. I don't think most growers expect to have to raise the water temperature by 14ºF. The light when the heater is on is easy to see. They come with a 2" holder that securely attaches the suction cups (but is removable) and prevents the suction cups from falling to the bottom of the aquarium. My aquariums don't have many decorations so I don't have to worry about the glass breaking. The glass on them seems quite thick. Since warm water rises, I install them horizontally at the bottom of the tank. These heaters are not the cheapest, but they are very reliable and well worth the price. .
