They work, the plastic is strong enough to be drilled through
I hate seeing cables so I drilled a hole big enough to put the USB cable through and put it through the led into the wall on the back. My first cracked a little but I was more careful with the second and all went well. I started with a small beat and blew it to over 3 beats. They look a bit industrial but I would have preferred them as the ball and base allow for more positions (I didn't want to settle for a crooked video).
