As an extreme DIY enthusiast, be prepared to spend an hour replacing a valve. If I had to rate this Kohler toilet I would give it 2 stars because you have to remove the tank and then you really need a wrench to loosen the big nut on the bottom. I spent at least 45 minutes trying different tools to loosen the nut. I ended up cutting the rubber gasket off the nut so I could barely unscrew the nut with a pipe wrench. If you have a large channel block, this will likely work as well. If the pipe wrench didn't work I would cut the nut off with my Dremel tool. No fun! After the nut was removed, it took several minutes to remove and reinstall the new valve. I can't figure out why they made a valve where you have to remove the entire top tank to replace the valve. Too much work for a valve that needs to be replaced several times over the lifetime of a toilet. One more thing: there was no model number on my toilet. I bought the wrong valve at first but at least Revain made it easy to return. When I saw the top was 3 inches I figured the bottom where the nut is would be the same. No, she was about 2 3/8 inches tall. The first valve was about 3 inches too big. After this work is completed I suspect most toilets will use this smaller valve.
