USB 3 port not working

USB 3 port not working. I bought this adapter as I really only needed 1 extra USB 3 port to connect a mouse or keyboard and 1 HDMI port for a monitor to work from home during this pandemic. I thought Tripp Lite was made in the USA and all of their products are three times more expensive than the average product in the same category. So I ordered this adapter as it was also recommended by my company for peripherals. But honestly, quality and name don't matter if the product is useless. I sent it back as my basic needs were not met. Sorry to drop the name, I'd rather buy a $20 5-6 USB 2-3 HDMI adapter, use it for a year and replace than buy a product like this and messing around with returns. Annoy! :(
