First Spyderco knife - my new EDC

I have all kinds of Kershaw, S&W, SOG and ZT knives. This is my first Spyderco and I'm a fan! While I've always admired the Spyderco brand and the quality of the steel, I've never owned one because of the price. But I was looking for a new EDC. My previous EDC was the Kershaw Scallion, which I liked but was too small for my day-to-day tasks. So small that I recently lost it. So began my search for my next EDC. I was really looking forward to another Kershaw as I love their variety, value and opening with SpeedSafe! Unfortunately I live in New York now and can't bring an assisted opener to New York and I didn't want to send it to my friend across the river in New Jersey :) Anyway I haven't calmed down. found what I was looking for in the Kershaw line, in the size and style I wanted. So I stumbled across Spyderco Persistence and decided to give it a try. I received it today and right out of the box it didn't disappoint. The processing is excellent. The G-10 balance is perfectly ground and matched to the steel frame. The knife has no play in the grip, the stroke is smooth. The balance of the knife is exactly on the index finger, which means that the knife fits perfectly in the hand. The ideal weight makes the knife very quick and easy to use, and the G-10 scales offer excellent grip without adding weight. This is 8Cr13MoV steel, currently the best steel in this price range, and although this knife costs a few dollars more than Kershaw, the Spyderco quality makes up for it. Here is a photo of Persistence against my ZT 0350TS. ZT is a high performance knife. That makes it too big and too heavy for an EDC. I carry this knife in my holdall, not in my pocket. So Persistence is a budget knife but with the quality of more expensive Spyderco knives. I think I'll have to buy Tenacious' big brother next time!
