The small black prong is used to ground the second outlet - probably a feature for most users (ensuring stability), but an issue for me. Unfortunately, this little plastic pin has to go into the ground for the second exit. Since I don't have a second socket, it doesn't sit properly. This can also be an issue for those who want to plug the device into the top of the two sockets. Of course, the pin could be broken, but I wouldn't buy the device if I realized it. and wanted to warn the few who might be interested.
