This burner is good for heating sauces or steaming/carmelizing vegetables. But it won't brown meat or seafood when trying to brown or fry it. The device heats up quickly, but then switches on and off even at very low temperatures. This will get the pan nice and hot, then turn it off and cool, then reheat. I didn't even fry the scallops properly, I forgot the beef. If you just want to heat soup/sauces or sauté onions then buy. If you want a well cooked steak, look elsewhere.
