Will not hold, slide, alter, burn or leave marks. I am 5ft 4in and weigh 135lbs. I use them under winter pants for snowboarding. They don't offer the same protection as hard knee pads used in skateboarding, but they offer enough protection to reduce the "oops". when you fall on your knees I would also recommend them to anyone who needs to wear them under clothing all day (e.g. house cleaning, kneeling to fix floors or carpets, etc.). You forget you're wearing them - they're comfortable to wear all day, they fully cover your knees, but they're not too bulky to wear under jeans or winter pants.
