Review on ๐Ÿ’ฆ Gates 44038 Premium Engine Water Pump: Efficient Performance for Optimal Cooling by Kenny Shaver

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Too early to talk about reliability but perfect for 94 Caprice

Too early to know. The old pump leaked and cleared the optics park. Also, it now runs cooler, so the pump (or the new T-Stat) works more efficiently. Please note that this is an IMPORTED pump (from Asia), Gates is said to be at least assembled here. Would be willing to spend significantly more if it was done here as I believe you get what you pay for. As others have said the temperature sensor is not included, I have never had a pump like this before. It would be better if it came with a water outlet and a T-Stat as they are part of this pump once installed on the engine. It's a weekend warrior for me, so I've also thrown in a cheap Opti (from a local New Jersey mail order company that gives them a 3 year guarantee). The last one lasted 4-5 years. 4 stars overall for occasional use, but for everyday use I'd go with a pump that's at least assembled in the US. Dur@l@st pumps are assembled here in many cases, just picked up one for my 97 Z71 P/U. (QC sometimes doesn't even exist abroad. The US assembler, at least, usually runs functional tests on them.)

Cons
