💦 Gates 44038 Premium Engine Water Pump: Efficient Performance for Optimal Cooling Review

Installed 6/29/21 on a 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon at 163,800 miles. Fits perfectly. Lifetime Limited Warranty. A shellac gasket is required to hold the gaskets in place during installation.

Great price and delivery. Installed this pump with a new radiator and lowered the operating temp by about 25 degrees, good quality, it came with the necessary gaskets.

Fits my 1994 Chevrolet Caprice Classic with L99 4.3L V8 engine (LT1 engine family). Comes with gaskets to attach to unit and tubing, T-Stat/housing and temp sensor fit as expected. The alignment holes will mate with the pins on the block and the splined pump shaft will fit into the ring on the end of the manifold as intended.

This pump does not quite fit the LT1 engine, the heater hoses are much closer to the engine than the original pump (they shortened the SS pipes on the pump). The upper heater hose ends about 1/8 inch from the power steering pump pulley. So if you ever need to remove the PS pump pulley, the water pump will also need to be removed.

Too early to know. The old pump leaked and cleared the optics park. Also, it now runs cooler, so the pump (or the new T-Stat) works more efficiently. Please note that this is an IMPORTED pump (from Asia), Gates is said to be at least assembled here. Would be willing to spend significantly more if it was done here as I believe you get what you pay for.
