First off, these are just keycaps that attach with small 3M adhesive circles that are the same size as the joycon buttons. Sticking the glue circles onto the buttons wasn't too difficult. The problem I had was removing the top cover of these circles to expose the top adhesive (to actually attach the caps) without pulling the entire circle of adhesive away from the button, as it seems I didn't put the adhesive firmly enough on the button pressed. To be fair, I didn't feel entirely comfortable pressing the buttons harder than I did in the beginning to tighten them, but I tried again and was able to get them to stay put with no issues. The kit includes two sets of custom keycaps along with 2 d-pad caps (a regular + d-pad and a round d-pad). I chose the regular one after trying both, mostly for aesthetic reasons. The round one seemed good, but I just prefer the look and feel of a regular dpad. Overall, using the new Dpad is great. The material feels nice and it's a lot easier to switch from one button to another as opposed to the original separate buttons. Skull & Co. Before you list them, you should know that for this test I used my Switch exclusively in handheld mode to test the joycon update since I use a professional controller for dock mode. First, the curve of the arm is a bit exaggerated. than before the update, as the joycon's d-pad is now slightly higher, slightly changing the way you reach the d-pad with your thumb. However, I would attribute this to the ergonomics of the joycon itself rather than an upgrade. Second, it does NOT work in the same way as most other specialized dpads. Clicking the directions on this new dpad still feels like pressing the tactile joycon button (which obviously should be the nature of this update). I would have preferred to feel a little softer dpad pressure like on the pro controller, but I find that switching the shell to one of the dpad shells is the only way to get a similar feel (and even then have I haven't researched enough). to tell if the D-Pad feels the same). Finally, I feel that both the individual keycaps and the dpad caps are too smooth/smooth on top. This might be more of a personal preference than anything else, but the material is a very glossy, slick plastic, and I feel that using a matte finish like the one already on the top joycon buttons works well for both the Better feel as well as usability would be beneficial as I wouldn't feel like my thumbs could slide over the keys more easily. Overall I think this is a great cheap Joycon upgrade and I would definitely recommend it.
