I bought this to replace a plastic block. I was pleasantly surprised to see that not only the metal edge but also the glass back. Hooray, no more crumbling plastic. The block has a weak point, the springs that hold it to the mount. The spring gauge is smaller than my original and doesn't have a bent end to make it easier to set up. There is a slight bend at the end of each leaf spring, but it's not at all enough. Eventually one of my springs broke off the block while installing it. Rather than return it I chose to put the jar in my old block. Worked great. The plastic surround on my old device is fine and unlike metal it does not rust over time.
