I got rid of the stupid old spotlight on my formula and installed one on top of the transom above the swim deck. It's probably too low to be 100% legal, but it's noticeable enough that I don't see the US Coast Guard bothering me. It's a lot lighter than I expected and has a cool pattern. I use a flat forward navigation light which is basically the same but made of polished stainless steel and it goes well with the look of the boat. The device is all plastic, but seems solid unless people are literally kicking it or something. Two navigation lights use so little power I could run them for a week or more on the backup battery.
