I recently upgraded my iPad mini 2 to a 2019 iPad mini 5 and was sad that the mini 5 didn't fit Apple's old iPad mini leather sleeve; It turns out that the new Mini 5 is about a millimeter larger. This prompted me to look for something similar that would work with my new Mini and I settled on the Soke iPad Mini case from 2019. My only issue (and I wouldn't rate it negatively enough) is that I find it , that you have to fiddle with the Soke Case a little longer than Apple to put it on the table. This is because you need to orient the Apple Pencil holder properly so it doesn't interfere with the magnetic fold. It doesn't matter once you figure it out, but it takes a few seconds the first few times you do. Conclusion: While this case isn't as soft and comfortable to hold as my broken Apple leather case, it fulfills the same function and takes it a step further by also offering an Apple Pencil holder. While the case is not soft and comfortable, this can be seen as a downside, the Soke case feels more secure in my hand when wearing it, so I don't think I'll drop the ensemble. Also, when paired with an Apple Pencil, it feels more like a regular paper notepad that will be less distracting to others when placed on a table during a meeting. I didn't drop my new iPad in its case on purpose, but I find that its edges offer better protection than Apple's old case - I feel like the iPad is better protected if you hit one of the edges . My verdict: It fits, it's durable and it's comfortable. And while I wasn't sure what it looked like when I first got it, I find it quite attractive now. It's more of a more informal denim style than a more buttoned-through leather look.
