On its own, even with 'Boosted Bass' and 'Clear Vocals' the sound is only slightly above average, particularly in the high frequencies. An equalizer is required to come close to the audiophile quality of this speaker. I have an LG G6 phone with aptX HD technology and it goes perfectly with this speaker. With the Poweramp app from the Play Store and some equalizer settings, this thing is just amazing! Deep, powerful bass, smooth, tight mids, and amazingly clear highs are easily achievable with just a few EQ adjustments. Of course, most of the music on my phone is lossless FLAC, some even in high definition (plays flawlessly up to 24-bit 192k), but even MP3s sound fantastic. I really can't say enough good things about the sound of this speaker, but the light show feature is another matter. The "Beat Lighting" feature on this speaker is pretty much useless. When it's on, it's always on and pulsing even when there's no music playing, and even when music is playing it's very rarely in sync with the music. It really is an incredibly poorly implemented feature and you will quickly learn not to use it at all. I think it's just some kind of "Hey, check it out!" thing, but it just doesn't really work. Plus, you'll save battery life without it. A "Music Flow" app is also offered for this speaker, but I've found that it's only used to show the speaker's battery level. It's a crappy music app that also has beat lighting controls, but then again, you'll probably never use beat highlighting, and the music app doesn't include an equalizer, so it can't be compared to Poweramp. Closing the app will also disconnect the speaker from Bluetooth. Completely inappropriate, especially if you can use the speaker for a hands-free function. In general I am very happy with it. It's worth the money if you have the right hardware to take advantage of the advanced audio quality features.
