Review on Enhance Audio Experience: Metra 70-5513 Ford Amplifier Eliminator Wiring Harness – A Perfect Fit! by John Snook

Will not fit my 97 Explorer with premium sound

I bought this adapter to bypass the built in amplifier after installing an aftermarket head unit. Unfortunately it didn't fit my amp. It was only supposed to fit between the two plugs that go into the amp, but mine was different, one plug was smaller than the other. I later discovered that many other people were having similar issues so I wanted to review and review this product to make sure others were aware of this beforehand. My advice is to first disconnect the amp and look at the connections. If they are the same size (or close together) this part might suit you. However, if one is much smaller than the other, that part won't help you bypass the amp. In case you're wondering, I finally found the schematic and just connected the wires together to bypass the amp. If you have an aftermarket head unit installed and you have no sound you may just need to connect the power to the amp (blue wire if I remember correctly) but if you want to bypass it completely you will need to get an adapter such as the amp like this or connect the wires by hand like I did.
