I bought these to replace a similar pair I had for 2 years that broke. They lasted several weeks of normal use, and the cable just above the 3.5mm jack began to snap and wear out. But I bought a protection plan so I figured I was protected. No, of course the mechanical coating does not include the wiring and case, so I have to file a claim with Philips. Annoying, but let's see what happens. So I call Philips and file a claim. First they need a receipt, then photos of the damage. No problem of course, it's reasonable. The claim is then dismissed as this appears to be an expected response to "normal wear and tear". For real? After a couple of weeks, I realize these aren't Beats' top-of-the-line workout headphones, but that's ridiculous. I recommend staying away from them and buying something else. I liked the price as they were still in use for 2 years and I wasn't worried about them being lost or stolen. But there are other options!
