This is the part where it's used the most when opening the door and I'm surprised it wasn't made from a better material.

After 30 years the original handle finally broke and I don't think it will last half as long as my original as it wasn't very well made, especially the one spindle part. My original was metal, but this is cheap plastic. This is the part where it's used the most when opening the door and I'm surprised it wasn't made from a better material. Since the hole spacing of 1 1/2 is nowhere to be found in my local hardware stores, I have no choice but to be satisfied with it for the time being. I'll have to keep looking for a better option as it definitely won't last long.
