I chose this one because the vast majority of the less than positive reviews related to the inability to protect the floor when your cat pees on it (that's not a problem for me, and really, c'mon folks, unless , you'll get something with your lip won't work) and that it's difficult to dump it back into the bin. Confession: I don't sweep very often - not always. I really wanted something that would do the impossible, but I knew it wasn't real. I was hoping for a 50% reduction in scattered debris at best. So SCIENCE! I swept the floor, laid out a rug and haven't swept in over a week. Then I first swept the floor myself, poured the swept into a bottle of pills, marked the sweeping height with a marker and threw it in the bin. Then I tossed the garbage mat on the floor, swept it into a small pile, placed *that* pile in the pill bottle, and marked the side. I don't remember the preliminary measurements, but it turned out that when I swept off the floor, a little more than three times more dirt fell out of the carpet. And that's not counting the 3 small but recognizable bits of poop that got stuck in the holes in the top layer of carpet (unexpected bonus, they didn't end up under the coffee table or anything). It turns out that more than 75% of things stay on the carpet. I'm damn happy with this relationship. I notice that the mat does not slip. I didn't go for non-slip because the backing is often something that sticks to the ground all the time, which definitely wouldn't be an asset. But even on my hardwood floor, I didn't notice the carpet moving noticeably, even with a cat that weighs 18 pounds and sometimes runs off like the devil himself after pooping. The carpet showed no signs of sticking to my floor even in the 3 months or so that I've had it. I personally have not refused any of my cats to step on him, at least after the first two days of acclimatization. One of my guys loves to hide by scratching the floor outside the box because he's an idiot; That means it certainly sticks to the toilet mat fairly regularly, but I haven't seen any damage yet. In any case, it takes a lot of effort for me to motivate myself to write a review, but this rug exceeded my expectations.
