Review on ๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ Ray Ban RB8301 GUNMETAL GRADIENT Non Polarized Sunglasses by Erica Pratt

Classic aviator glasses with slightly smaller lenses and a fashionable twist.

I am a man, I am 50 years old. I'm not a fashion expert, but I also recognize that sunglasses are a personal choice, like shoes or a watch. Part of the Ray-Ban Tech series, these glasses come with carbon fiber wrapped composite temples. The front of the frame around the lenses is metal and the lens width is 56mm. Mine says Made in China. More traditional classic sunglasses (Ray-Ban RB3025) have full metal frames and are made in Italy. Aviator style is not for everyone. I can certainly appreciate that they are all the rage right now, which is why they top out at around $200 in retail stores/malls. I also have the classic RB3025 aviator goggles in 55mm gold frames with polarized lenses and spade arms. My classic aviators, despite the 55mm designation, have larger lenses and the lenses are shaped to cover a larger area of the face. Keep in mind that most Ray Ban aviator sunglasses also come with 58mm lenses. In both the classic RB3025 series and the Tech series, the 58mm lenses feel huge and are better suited to a woman's face in my opinion. Specially designed for those looking for a trendy oversized look. These smaller 56mm lenses are ideal for middle-aged men. I'm 6 feet tall, 175 pounds and slim. The frames are lightweight, but the composite and carbon fiber temples don't fold behind the ears like classic aviator blades. Flat-backed ears are those that have a downward curve behind the ears. My teenage son stole my classic gold aviator sunglasses (circa 1980s) with comfortable temples that fold over the backs of the ears; I don't think Ray-Ban stops making comfort cables, but they did a great job of preventing glasses from slipping off and can be worn under a headset or over headphones. So here's the problem with these tech goggles. Be careful if your face is wet or you have sunscreen on your nose, you may find it slipping off your face onto the floor. Unlike classic aviators, they don't have spade straps or comfort cords that can be clipped behind the ears. Look at the picture and you will see that the whiskey is almost straight. The weight of the frame comes from the nose pads. I use Maui Jim Composite sunglasses for sports and outdoor activities because I'm afraid the Ray Bans will slip off my face. Keep in mind that these Ray-Bans are trendy frames and not the best choice if you are planning to go jet skiing or surfing. Trust me on that. The quality of the lenses is excellent. The optical quality is as good as my Maui Jim glasses. Mine have black frames and thin gray mirrored lenses. They're cool but don't scream "look at me" like some of the mirrored green, orange, or blue lenses. Modest but fashionable. The lens features an embossed white 'Ray-Ban P' logo and the temples also feature a riveted 'Ray-Ban' logo on each side. I think it's really overkill to have Ray Bay words on three pages, but I think that's the price you pay for vanity. I bought mine on sale at Revain and saved a few bucks. Cheaper than retail. I love her. It's best to try them on at a retail store and see if you're okay with that.
