Review on 🚽 TOTO TSU99A.X Adjustable Fill Valve Assembly for Toilet Tanks - Unfinished (Replacement) by Carlos Barrett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works well. Easy installation. Somewhat ambiguous instructions for adjusting the height.

Works well. This universal inflation valve has replaced a special Toto inflation valve that is no longer manufactured. I recently noticed that I can still hear the water flowing when it's full, so the old valve had to be replaced. I've found some YouTube videos of people showing how to "clean and fix" an old valve, but at the end of a lot of those videos the output, ahem, didn't work. In addition, a new valve is quite cheap. When I couldn't find an old part for sale I went to the Toto website and locked in my toilet model (under the cistern cap). It said it was now the recommended inflation valve for that model, which gave me more confidence. That was the official part I needed. Installation was relatively easy, although it may take 10-20 minutes. I only had one small complaint about the installation. You look up your toilet model and it tells you how many notches or ledges or whatever you need to set up an adjustable fill height. You can easily see the bumps. The confusing part was that if you ROTATE to "fix" the specified number of bulges, the valve gets a little smaller, obscuring one of the bulges a little more. So I'm saying the instructions can be a bit ambiguous. Should I set this hit count before blocking? And then lose some of the bumps when I close? Or do I set it further and then block it when it gets closer to the expected number? Well I've tried both ways and found that for me over-adjustment AFTER locking the valve adjustment to show the correct number of notches was the best way. It depends on how much water the tank ends up filling. The first attempt didn't fill the tank as high as the second attempt.

Pros
  • It's amazing
Cons
  • Some little things
