Too big for portable USB DVD drive. My USB Blu-ray drive just bounced around in the case. He was even too small to get out of the way with the trellis. Might fit large (3.5″) external hard drives or some older USB drives, but 2.5″ external drives and USB DVD drives are too small for me to comfortably use this case for this purpose. hard shell.
