Review on 🧡 Sashiko Thread Spool - 40 meters, Color #51, 5x1 by Kristen Reid

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Strong thread

Bought several packs of this thread in different colors. i really like it I don't know how to make sashiko, but I've mended clothes and sewed on patches. I use this thread for both the strength of the repair and to make the repair look better. I use it differently than embroidery thread. Thread for embroidery can separate the strands. As far as I know, you can't do that with this thread. You use it in its current thickness, which is thick. There is something to consider. This is a strand. The first one I opened turned into a tangled ball when I tried to unwind and then wind it onto spools. I didn't know what I was doing and it was a nightmare. There are several videos on YouTube showing how to open and rotate this thread, which needs to be done carefully. I suggest you check them out before trying the first one if you are unfamiliar with them. I don't have Swift so I'm doing it by hand. I use two wine bottles spaced correctly and wind them into a skein before cutting the thread so I can start unwinding and winding onto a spool or bobbin. It takes some time. I'm listening to a podcast or something. Once you've successfully done this a few times, it's easy. But if you're new to it, it can be confusing the first time and the second time. I'm not sure if it's correct to wrap the thread around the spool, but this is how I do it. This works for me. I also thread a piece of thread over the beeswax before sewing. I don't know if that's necessary, but it seems to work fine.

Pros
  • Length: 40 cm
Cons
  • Broken thread
