I ONCE ran out of gas in my wife's commuter car due to a long Chickfila line and the result was a jerky fuel pump. Sometimes the old pump worked, sometimes I had to tap on the tank, and sometimes nothing. Instead of waiting for it to fall off completely and leave us stranded, I decided to take on the task of replacing it myself. Thank goodness for plastic fuel tanks because it's a monster! I can't imagine how heavy it would be if it was steel. We debated whether or not to use several other unknown brands because they were cheaper. A few youtube articles and videos later and we decided that the brand name mattered and Delphi was in the lower end of the "good brands" price range. This pump arrived quickly after ordering and (after lowering the tank) was installed with no problems. It's been a few months now and now it's a problem. When you try it yourself for the first time, patience and knowledge are your best friends. Check out all the videos you can find about your specific vehicle. This is my fifth fuel pump installation. If you screw it up, your car won't go anywhere. But if you get it right (and if you're even a little mechanically inclined, you will get it right) you can save a lot of money by doing it yourself. Plus the satisfaction of feeling like Han Solo fixing the Falcon's hyperdrive.
