Review on 💾 Toshiba N300 4TB NAS Internal Hard Drive - CMR SATA 6 GB/s 7200 RPM 128 MB Cache - HDWQ140XZSTA by Rip Twin

Home NAS. 6TB just couldn't be beat for the price, so after a thorough study of the N300 series I decided to give it a try. The drives are pretty fast for what they're used for (first tested with a SATA to USB dock and I managed to get around 200MB/s). I've only had them for a few weeks and have found two "issues" with them. First is the noise, these drives make sure you know when the head is moving which is a bit annoying since my NAS is in my bedroom but I doubt most people have their NAS in their room. Second, the operating temperature. I have two of these in an actively air-cooled QNAP 231 and both drives reach 46°C within a minute of drive activity. I have found that almost all owners report a higher than usual operating temperature, so this is not a defective product. These issues aside, they seem like a good buy, but the most important factor is reliability. So if anything goes wrong I will update. I'm happy with it now and won't recommend it.
