Review on Tachyon OPS Helmet Camera - Full-HD 1080p by Amy Wheeler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Be sure to buy another one!

I'm starting out using a lot of cameras, mostly DSLRs. I shoot a few videos for different needs and styles. This small, lightweight camera got me out of a sticky situation or two. The video quality is not what you would expect from such a small camera. It's not a replacement for a DSLR, I don't mean that, but for mounting on a helmet, on the side of a car or on a gun, this little camera is perfect. I used it not only for work but also for fun. I've installed them on my 4WD and RC cars, among other things. The big plus of this camera is that it's so light weight that it won't affect your RC car's performance as much as other sports cameras. This is a great video recorder. There are many ways to install this. Simply stick a piece of 3m tape to the dashboard first, then a piece to the helmet mount, insert your camera and you're good to go. This 3 meter tape is no joke, I used it to mount cameras under a truck and drive down dirt roads like a teenager. And it's probably enough for three different locations, plus a camera. You can also get a windshield suction cup mount at any "online store" with a standard 1/4-20 tripod thread, and the Tachyon has a standard size camera mount which I really like, which makes it so versatile. I will definitely get another camera as a dedicated DVR as I can change the firmware to loop the footage and start recording when I turn the car on and continue until I turn the car off. When the card is full, the earliest footage is recorded, creating an endless loop of footage. If you have a DC outlet that always has power, it will always record (as long as the camera has power, it will record). In summary, it costs $200. Especially when you consider that competing cameras cost twice as much and aren't as versatile. I like it, two thumbs up.
