Excellent for brine for meat and poultry

The hydrometer arrived securely packaged. I've used it to measure the salt content of meat and poultry salts and it's worked great so far. I use it with the Karter Scientific 250ml 213I13 Glass Graduated Cylinder, a metric scale which is a little smaller than recommended but still works well. By the way, if you want to read more about how to salt meat, I recommend Ruhlman's excellent book Sausage: The Craft of Salting, Smoking, and Canning. (Revised and updated).
