Review on πŸ”¦ UCO StakeLight: Reliable Tent Stake with LED Light and Emergency Strobe by John Clark

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Really good, but a few tips

They are real guards. Not only do they illuminate the tent area, they also make tent posts and guy lines visible at night. No more "linear paranoia" and swearing when you leave the tent and run into the streamers in the middle of the night. The posts are V-shaped and will not bend like cheap posts. Quickdraw as well as a hook head for all rope/quickdraw needs. A FEW TIPS Be careful when straining to remove the rubberized lamp from the stand. You don't have to press so hard. It should slide smoothly. But the resistance is enough to stay in place during use. There are no instructions on the packaging for installing 1 AAA battery in each lamp. The website has a suggestion, but I would replace it with the following: 1) Remove the black rubber casing from the white plastic bulb. 2) Be careful not to move the black rectangular element inwards. Both are small tips. But if you only buy one, you'll have no idea which way the two-teeth part should be pointing when it pops out (hint: the teeth point toward the stake, not the battery). I was about to deduct a star for this confusion, but the rest of the product is just too good. OTHER THOUGHTS Like most real stakes, they are too wide to fit the small pencil-sized holes in many tents. Use them like real stakes to tie your guy wires for strong and permanent fixtures. They work in strobe mode for 24 hours. Continuous operation for 10 hours. The white lamp unit is completely covered with black rubber and thus protects against heavy rain. The lights are bright enough that you probably don't want to point them into your tent. But the light scatters so much that if you look outside you won't illuminate the adjacent campsite. All in all a good buy for glowing sticks that are also surprisingly durable.
