They ended up being pretty reliable near-perfect KVM switches. I've experimented with multiple monitors, HDMI and DP versions of KVM, and a variety of adapter cables to find a good setup. I hope my comments below will help other buyers find the right combination. My Acer G235h monitor was 9 years old and only supported DVI and VGA inputs, so I bought a Tripp Lite DP to DVI active cable and it didn't work. ok, with the DP KVM switch, when I switched to the laptop dock, snow appeared on the screen for a few seconds, then a video that flickered for 4-6 seconds, and then I had a stable picture. An idle DP-DVI cable was worse, I had it snowing all the time unless I cycled the monitor and then everything was fine until I switched to a different port. I replaced the monitor with an Asus VP247QG monitor and removed the converter cable and everything worked fine. I don't know if my old monitor, the converter cables, or a broken dock was the problem, but the new monitor works almost perfectly without the converter cables. The HDMI version of this KVM switch was very similar - it was a mess. with my old monitor and some converters. I've had all sorts of issues, from the occasional wrong screen resolution to the video flickering after switching to a 'static' display, which sometimes morphs into a solid image. Replacing the monitor and removing all converters solved almost all issues with the HDMI version of the KVM switch, although it still takes 3-5 seconds to get video when I switch to my laptop. So what's not perfect right now? About once a day (over 14 hours of use) the KVM will "reset" and switch to port 1 (my desktop computer). It really doesn't matter much, it happens very rarely and doesn't hurt anything. This may be due to my somewhat unusual RGB backlit mechanical keyboard, but I don't feel like replacing my regular keyboard for testing purposes. Everything else is flawless, you'll never realize you're connected through a KVM switch! Other points: I haven't tested the audio/mic part of the KVM, I prefer to hear sounds coming from both systems. The manufacturer's customer support was excellent; They were patient throughout the process and offered suggestions at every step. Another note: the documentation doesn't mention connecting the power adapter that comes with the KVM; Make sure you plug it in first and then connect the I/O devices to the KVM. Bottom Line: These are reliable, near-perfect DP and HDMI KVMs with the right hardware.
