I bought this specifically to add a 500GB external hard drive to my Wii U. I was disappointed to find out that Nintendo supplies low power USB ports and you need a Y adapter to make it work. I saw other reviews of people using this particular article to achieve the same goal with their Nintendo Wii U and their external HD, so I decided to give it a try. For a few bucks the cable arrived incredibly fast and when I plugged it into the hard drive and then into the Wii U it noticed IMMEDIATELY and I was able to start using it and transfer some of my downloaded games to it for free. Freed up some more space on the Wii U for my saved games. In a nutshell. This worked exactly as I had hoped. I couldn't be happier with that. My Wii U is no longer choking on storage because of this cable.
