Good solution for running USB 3.0 devices through USB 2.0 ports.

I recently ordered a nice ultra slim external hard drive that didn't come with an external power supply. It is designed to be powered directly from the power supplied by the USB port itself. The problem is that my games console, which was supposed to power the hard drive, didn't have the latest USB ports and therefore wasn't supplying enough power to run the hard drive. That's where this cable comes in. Since my game console has two USB 2.0 ports, this Y-cable allowed me to use the power ofโ€ฆ

This is a great cable. I'm buying this cable set for my external hard drive the 1TB Toshiba Canvio Connect drive that I received for my Nintendo Wii U. Used for Wii U + External Hard Drive = SUCCESS

I bought this specifically to add a 500GB external hard drive to my Wii U. I was disappointed to find out that Nintendo supplies low power USB ports and you need a Y adapter to make it work. I saw other reviews of people using this particular article to achieve the same goal with their Nintendo Wii U and their external HD, so I decided to give it a try. For a few bucks the cable arrived incredibly fast and when I plugged it into the hard drive and then into the Wii U it noticed IMMEDIATELY andโ€ฆ

Construction of the highest quality. The cable is too short for desktop computers, but it works for laptops.

Good quality, works as expected, hard drive insertion and data transfer is smooth. The connections are strong and solid. The overall length is too short for operation with a desktop computer - the hard disk gets stuck. Not perfect, even with a lightweight 2-1/2" disc. A cumbersome but handy workaround is two USB extension cables, or better yet, a self-powered USB 3 hub. Perfect for a laptop, Mac Mini, etc. iMac , can lie flat on a table within a 10" radius of the ports. Note that the firstโ€ฆ

I'm buying this cable set to use with the 1TB external hard drive I received for my Nintendo Wii U hard drive
