Review on πŸ”Œ Optimized USB Y-Cable: Cable Matters 20 Inches Micro USB 3.0 to USB Splitter Cable for Enhanced Searchability by Julian Davidson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Construction of the highest quality. The cable is too short for desktop computers, but it works for laptops.

Good quality, works as expected, hard drive insertion and data transfer is smooth. The connections are strong and solid. The overall length is too short for operation with a desktop computer - the hard disk gets stuck. Not perfect, even with a lightweight 2-1/2" disc. A cumbersome but handy workaround is two USB extension cables, or better yet, a self-powered USB 3 hub. Perfect for a laptop, Mac Mini, etc. iMac , can lie flat on a table within a 10" radius of the ports. Note that the first USB-A male is USB 3, the second (presumably just for power) is USB 2. You can plug the second in stick a cheap self-powered USB 2 hub and save the computer USB 3 port for data. The cable should be about 8" longer, or maybe it should be two products for a laptop and a desktop.

Pros
  • Superior Construction - The combination of gold-plated connectors, copper conductors, and foil/braid shielding provides excellent cable performance and reduced EMI/RFI for error-free data transfer; Designed with molded discharge ports for durability and convenient safeguards for frequent shutdowns
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide
